Basics on sending

BACKCLICK contains a scalable, high-performance mail-generating engine. This allows for a sending rate of from approximately 100,000 to 350,000 e-mails per hour on modern single-server systems. If this sending rate is too low for your needs, you may also build up a so-called cluster using BACKCLICK mail engines. These mail engines are installed on different servers, and carry out the sending simultaneously.

This system architecture also makes it possible to send out two newsletters at the same time, using one mail-engine. If you should want to send two newsletters at 12:00 p.m., this may easily be done, although the sending rate for simultaneous mailings will be lower. Sending too quickly will never be a problem, because you can create a restriction for the sending rate of newsletters.

If you have a right to access the sending attitudes, you may also check on mail-engine function using the Status or Log-files. For more information, see Chapter “System Administration”.

Fixed date for sending

If you are an authorized BACKCLICK editor or administrator, you can assign a fixed date for sending a newsletter. The newsletter must have the status, “ready for sending.” To assign a sending time to a newsletter that is ready for sending, click on the Image Removed the  -symbol in the “Action” publish Time"Action” column of the newsletter. This is where you will fix the sending date and the time. The following dialogue field will be opened:

PLEASE NOTE: If you enter a date that lies in the past, you will get an error message that will let you correct the date. If the entry is confirmed Image Removed"ok", an up-to-date view of the newsletter opens in the sending list. To close the sending-time feature, click on the Image Removed"Save"-button.

Sending out immediately

If you want to send the newsletter immediately after creating it, click on the Image Removed"Publish"-symbol. After you confirm this with a safety query, the newsletter will be sent. Make sure that at least one mail-sending-engine is registered and ready for work when you do this. If the newsletter is not sent, tell the administrator. If you are the administrator, start the Mailer.

Check Sending

You may check the current status of the newsletter while you are sending it out. Open the menu item “Newsletter statistics” under “statistics.” This will give you a corresponding overview in real time. For more information, see Chapter “Sending Statistics”.
