Basics on newsletters and the process of creating them

Newsletters may be sent to mailing lists as well as to certain target groups. If you have not yet created any mailing lists in the system, you need to do so before creating a newsletter.

Before you get started creating a newsletter, you will need to decide on the type of format in which the newsletter should be sent. You may choose from among the following:

  • HTML only Mailing: Online HTML — The subscriber must be connected to the Internet in order to read the e-mail, and to get all of the pictures displayed by using their URLs.
  • HTML only Mailing: Offline HTML — All pictures are “packed” into the e-mail. The layout is shown correctly even without an active Internet connection.
  • HTML und Text Mailing: Offline HTML — Those subscribers who only use a text-based e-mail client may also read the e-mail.
  • HTML und Text Mailing: Online HTML — Those subscribers who only use a text-based e-mail client may also read the e-mail.

You can add normal attachments to the e-mail for every mode of sending. As owner of an Enterprise License, you may also attach personalized PDF documents to the newsletter. Note that in creating HTML mailings, it is preferable to insert some text. This will make it less likely for the newsletter to be classified as spam when it is checked on the subscriber’s side.

BACKCLICK offers an integrated HTML editor that may be used for editing the newsletter — not only within the HTML source text, but also while creating the newsletter. You can define hyperlinks, insert and interlink pictures, prepare tables, define colors, define typefaces or font sizes, and use samples that are already stored on your system.

For any campaign that is sent to any mailing list, you can exclude certain subscribers from receiving the newsletter. Simply activate the eRobinson

function. As with a personalized circular letter, you can also receive a complete, personalized preview of the newsletter at any time, and scroll through all of the subscribers who will receive it.
