Creating a new user

Before you can create a new user in the BACKCLICK system, you need to check and see if you have the right to create new users. If you are logged in as the "bcadmin", you have this right. From the main menu, select “User management -> Create new user.” This will open the following mask, as shown in the figure:

First name, last name, email address, log in, password

Fill in the user information here (first name, last name, email address, etc.). The log-in name and password each must have a minimum of six characters. Aside from the number of characters, both the log-in name and the password are freely selectable. Letters, numbers, or other characters may be used.

Session length

You may define a session length for everyone who uses BACKCLICK. This is the time the user may be logged in to the system without working on it. If this time has expired, the user will be logged out automatically. This will still apply if the user is writing a newsletter, pauses for lunch, and returns after the session time has expired.

Language

You may choose the language of the menu for every user. The entire menu and all of the buttons will then be displayed in the chosen language. At the present time, you may select English, German or Polish.

Password changeable by user

If you want to let users change their own password, select “Yes.” If you do not want users to change the password on their own, choose, “No.”

IMF sort

While using the self-learning function of the intelligent mail filter, users can raise the hit rate of the automatic categorization. Because operational errors may lead to unpredictable results, BACKCLICK lets you refuse this right to every user. To grant this right to the user, select “Yes.” To deny them this right, choose “No.”

Status

You may activate or deactivate a user account here, by selecting “Yes” or “No.” This may be done for any accounts that may only be temporary (guest columnists, etc.).

Extended

Target Group Newsletter

Setting on for selectable mailing lists (sender).

HTML-Editor

If your administrator allowed use of the HTML Editor in the basic settings, every other user has a right to it as well. HTML Editor makes it possible to write an HTML newsletter, even with no knowledge of HTML. Text may be inserted without regard to formats, and the newsletter will be displayed correctly. If this function is deactivated, every text must be inserted with all the necessary HTML information, to get the same.

Show time/ user name

Here you may choose whether to hide the server-time and user-name information, or to show it in the administrational overview at the top lefthand side of the screen.

Export passwords

Here you may configure or deny user export of the subscribers’ passwords.

Administrator's rights

You will only need this setting if you plan to identify a second administrator in your company who will use BACKCLICK. (We do not suggest that you give administrative rights to every user.) To grant or deny administrative rights to a new user, choose “Yes” or “No.”

Mailing list

access

Here you may define which mailing lists the user may access. The user will only be able to see, edit, or erase subscribers on the lists he or she has a right to. This also applies to the statistical data and bounce e-mails for each user’s lists. The mandatorial function of BACKCLICK is controlled here. There are two “Multiple Select Boxes.” In the left box, you will find the already existing mailing lists. In the right box, you will see the ones to which the user has access rights. To move the mailing lists from the lefthand box into the righthand box, use the buttons in between the “Multiple Select Boxes,” which are single and double arrows for each direction. The single arrows will only move one marked entry from left to right and back again. The double arrows will move all the entries in one box from left to right and back again, depending on which way the arrow is pointing.

Size of data for Robinson

check

BACKCLICK makes it possible to compare subscribers’ e-mail addresses with those in BACKCLICK’s internal eRobinson database. These comparisons may also be done with a file used as a source. The size of the file the user is then allowed to check is defined here.

User's access permissions

The submenu “Create New User” defines which sections the user has rights to. For an overview of these rights, select or in the submenu. You may also define newly designated rights in the submenu item. You will need to click on the buttons at the top of the list to select or deactivate all of these features

Management of rights may also be defined here for every individual menu item:

  • The first button "+"stands for Select All, which will select every possible menu item.
  • The second button "-" stands for Delete Selection, which means that every menu item chosen previously will no longer be activated.

To define the rights the user needs, and save this profile of user rights, click on the "save"-button.
